Real Madrid won their first title of the season as they beat FC Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday. The Merengues were deserving winners of this competition as they beat Atletico Madrid 5-3 in the semi-finals, before scoring four past Barcelona in the final.
This was the first, of hopefully many, titles won by players like Jude Bellingham, Joselu, Arda Guler, Nico Paz, etc. Furthermore, Nacho won his first trophy as a captain with this win in Saudi Arabia.
While this will be an unforgettable achievement for all these players, one player in particular has set a peculiar record with the Spanish Super Cup win.
As MARCA has reported, Mario Martin, the Real Madrid youngster who was a part of the Spanish Super Cup squad, won another title and thus has won three titles while playing only two games with the first team.
Martin is the captain of Raul’s Real Madrid Castilla and has played only 25 minutes with Ancelotti’s men. But his presence with the first team has been enough for him to get a Club World Cup, a Copa del Rey, and, now, the Spanish Super Cup.
The first trophy won by Martin was the Club World Cup, which he won last season after Ancelotti called him up for the tournament along with Arribas, Marvel, Luis Lopez, and Lucas Canizares. He did not participate in any of the two games, but got the Club World Cup winners’ medal.
He played his first minutes under Ancelotti in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey against Atletico Madrid last season. He played five minutes in extra time in that match, and thus got the trophy despite not featuring in the semi-final or the final.
This season, he has also played 20 minutes against Arandina in the Copa del Rey, and thus, if Real Madrid wins the competition, Martin can have yet another title to his name by the season’s end.
