Many doubted the ability of Real Madrid to have a successful season this time around. The Merengues had won only the Copa del Rey last season, and there were serious doubts whether Carlo Ancelotti would still be in the dugout ahead of this season.

Furthermore, despite the addition of players like Fran Garcia and Jude Bellingham, there were some serious deficiencies in the squad. The lack of a world-class striker was clearly visible, while the right-back position also lacked depth.

However, despite these problems, Real Madrid have been spectacular this season. Ancelotti’s men are only one point behind the league leaders Girona, but have a game in hand, and won all six of their UCL group stage matches to advance to the knock-out stages, where they will face RB Leipzig in the Round of 16.

For now, Real Madrid have already won their first trophy of the season, as the men in white came out the clear winners from their match against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Vinicius Junior scored a first-half hat-trick, while Rodrygo Goes scored another goal in the second half to win the match 4-1 for Real Madrid. Robert Lewandowski scored a goal for Barcelona, but Ancelotti’s men clearly dominated their traditional rivals in Riyadh.

Earlier, the Vikings had eliminated their cross-city rivals, Atletico Madrid, with a 5-3 scoreline in extra time to advance to the final.

With this win, Ancelotti has equalized Zidane’s trophy haul, as both these managers now have eleven titles to their names. Furthermore, this was also Nacho’s first title won as the captain of the white team.

Having secured the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid will now fight for another domestic cup, the Copa del Rey. They will face Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 of this competition this week and will be looking to come out victorious once again to continue with their shining form.
