Several Real Madrid players were left heartbroken as Brazil crashed out of the 2024 Copa America in the quarter-final stage. The Selecao, with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao, and Endrick in their ranks, lost in the penalty shoot-out to Uruguay, with Federico Valverde advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Although Brazil had been far from their best throughout this season, they went into this match without one of their most potent weapons, i.e., Vinicius Junior, who was suspended for two games and thus unable to take to the pitch in such an important game.

One can argue that Vinicius deserves some blame for this elimination as his carelessness led to his booking, leaving the Canarinha without one of the most important players. The Real Madrid star himself definitely believes so as he took to the social media to take responsibility for his actions and to apologise to Brazil fans for this loss.

As MARCA has reported, the winger left a message accompanied by his pictures, asking for forgiveness and ensuring them that the Selecao will return to being the best international team in years to come:

“The Copa América is over and it’s time to reflect, to learn how to deal with defeat. The feeling of frustration resurfaces. Once again, in penalties. I failed by receiving two avoidable yellow cards. I watched the elimination from the outside once more, but this time it’s my fault. I apologize for that. I know how to listen to criticism and believe me, the harshest ones come from within.”

“My journey with the national team, fortunately, has just begun. Alongside my teammates, I will have the opportunity to return our team to its rightful place. WE WILL RETURN TO THE TOP! I LOVE YOU AND WE ARE TOGETHER!”

Winning the Copa America would have made Vinicius the favourite for the next Ballon d’Or trophy after his highly successful season with Real Madrid with whom he won the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League trophies last season.

But as he himself mentioned, he still has some time to pick up the pace with his international side, and hopefully, he will be able to win some trophies with his Brazil team too in his already illustrious career.
