Real Madrid rarely offers lengthy contracts to players after the age of 30. Even legends such as Sergio Ramos have not been able to negotiate for a contract longer than one year after surpassing the 30-year mark.

Right now, there are several players in Real Madrid’s squad who are playing an important role for Ancelotti, one of the most notable of them being Toni Kroos.

Owing to the importance of the German for the team, Real Madrid offices have frequently discussed Toni Kroos’ future at the club. His current contract ends on June 30th, 2024, and there has been no concrete news regarding the German’s contract.

Kroos continues to be one of the best players for the Merengues every season. The performances he puts in lead Madridistas and the executives at Real Madrid to believe that he has at least one or two more good seasons left in him.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club is willing to offer him a renewal for another year, but the German has made it clear numerous times in the past that he does not want to spend his last years in European football on the bench – like Marcelo in his final year at Real Madrid.

Seeing that he has been a crucial part of the team this season, Kroos is also considering a return to the national side for the Euros in 2024 – according to Sport Bild reporter, Christian Falk.

This could be due to several reasons; firstly, the competition will be held in Germany, and also, the German team is going through a difficult phase. Another factor that can motivate him to return to the German side is that he has won everything there is to win in football except the Euros.

In club football, Kroos has won all trophies possible. Opting for a renewal may offer him the opportunity to expand his trophy cabinet and also equal or even break the record for most European Cups won by a Real Madrid player – currently held by Paco Gento who won 6, whereas the German has won 4.

For now, this matter will keep everyone in suspense. Kroos’ decision regarding his continuity is expected to come towards the end of the season – similar to last year – and also if he feels he is physically fit enough to continue.
