Real Madrid continues to work in silence when it comes to their future projects. Los Blancos know the risks of unveiling their inner workings, and thus continue to keep putting the pieces in place. However, even Real Madrid know that some projects are too extreme to be kept quiet.
One such project is undoubtedly that of the European Super League, a project that the Merengues are quite passionate about. To create a new European league full of elites and those hoping to reach those heights is now much more than just a pipe dream.
Moreover, according to AS, there is more to it already than meets the eye. As per the words of Anas Laghrari, secretary general of the project, there is already an abundance of teams willing to make it a reality:
“… ( There are ) twenty highly motivated teams and another thirty almost convinced.”
In fact, the interest is so strong, that Laghrari believes the Super League could be started ‘tomorrow’.
However, good things take time. From the mouth of Laghrari, it is stated that the Super League still has a way to go before it can be officially debuted. The date given for now is that of the next year:
“The goal is to kick off the new competition in September 2025.”
On the other hand, for now at least, the names of the interested clubs can not be disclosed. As a gesture of legal binding and for the safety of the image of those ‘motivated’ clubs, they are thus far kept confidential:
“We cannot give names to avoid exposing them to UEFA, even though the judgment of the ECJ clearly states that no reprisals can be taken against those who embrace the new project.”
However, sources close to the Super League project claim that the clubs in question are “from the main leagues in Europe”.
