Having missed out on most of their sporting goals this year, Real Madrid are intent on going into the next season with all guns blazing. For this purpose, the Blancos have identified a number of targets to bolster the squad, and have already completed the signing of one of these top targets.
The player in question is the young English star Jude Bellingham. According to ESPN, Real Madrid has completed the signing of the youngster, and the player will be donning the Madrid jersey next season.
Bellingham started his footballing journey at the academy of Birmingham City and had the honor of becoming the club’s youngest-ever debutant and goal scorer. His impact at Birmingham City was so great that the club decided to retire the number 22 jersey after he moved to Germany.
However, his rise to stardom came after he had left England and joined the German club Borussia Dortmund. He remained at the prestigious German club for three years, and in his last and the best season with Dortmund, he scored 14 goals across all competitions.
He created records with Dortmund, too, as he became their youngest goal scorer as well, and helped the club win one German Cup.
From the following season, Bellingham will play for one of the greatest clubs in the world, as Madrid have paid €103 million for the 19-year-old midfielder, in addition to add-ons. If activated, these add-ons can take the total price of the player to €133.9 million.
Thus, Bellingham has become the second most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history after Eden Hazard and the third most expensive teenagers in club football, trailing only Kylian Mbappe and Joao Felix.
Inferring from the price paid for him, Real Madrid definitely see him as a player who can become the best player in the world and help them for several years to come. He will be an interesting choice for whoever is coaching Real Madrid next season, as the midfield now contains Bellingham in addition to all the stars already present at the club.
