After having beaten Manchester City in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League and then defeating Barcelona in La Liga, Real Madrid now have another high-profile game awaiting them as they are set to face Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the UCL.

In between these games, Real Madrid also won the match against Real Sociedad in La Liga over the weekend and thus will be going into the match against Bayern in good form.

Furthermore, Ancelotti named a full squad for this key game, as David Alaba and Thibaut Courtois have also been named in the list. However, none of these two players is expected to feature in the upcoming game, as Alaba is still recovering and Courtois is still not fully fit, even though the latter has returned to training.

Dani Carvajal, who has also been named in the Real Madrid squad, will also not be able to feature in the first leg because of suspension.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich will have several key players absent for this match. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, there are five players who are highly unlikely to be available for Thomas Tuchel in the upcoming match, including Bouna Sarr, Sacha Boey, Kingsley Coman, Matthijs de Light, and Konrad Laimer.

The former three of these players were already out for the match against Real Madrid, while the latter two were injured in the Bavarians’ last game against Eintracht Frankfurt. As Tuchel stated after that game, De Ligt was suffering from pain in the internal ligament of the knee while Laimer had a capsular injury in his ankle.

Furthermore, Jamal Musiala, who has been a key player for Tuchel this season, was also dropped from the squad for the Frankfurt game at the last minute, and the reason for his absence was a tendon discomfort. None of these three players, De Light, Laimer, or Musiala, were able to return to training with the group in Bayern’s last session.

However, there was still some good news for Tuchel, as Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane made their return to training after having missed the match against Frankfurt.

Still, it is clear that Tuchel will not have some of his best players available at least for the first leg of the upcoming tie against Real Madrid.
