Real Madrid are having a very good season up to now, as they top the league table with a six-point margin, have a one-goal advantage over their rivals in the Champions League, and have already won the Spanish Super Cup.
However, despite the good results that the team has been grinding out despite facing very adverse situations, significant changes are expected in the club’s squad for the next season.
For instance, as already reported here, Kylian Mbappe has already signed a contract with Real Madrid, which will see the French star play for the Merengues in the upcoming season.
Another expected change that will have a significant emotional and sporting impact on the team is the likely departure of the midfield maestro Luka Modric. The Croatian is seeing his game time reduce significantly this season, suggesting that his playing time at the Bernabeu might be coming to an end.
However, as MARCA has reported, there is a likelihood that the midfielder does not leave Real Madrid, but stops playing on the pitch. The report mentions that the Real Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has offered the Croatian to become a part of his coaching staff.
While this would be a very appealing scenario for Real Madrid fans, who would not want a player who has been a part of some of the club’s biggest successes in recent history to depart, the player himself will consider his options.
He still believes he can play for some years, and have several offers on the table. Thus, if he ends up not accepting Ancelotti’s offer, and leaves Real Madrid this summer, his most likely destinations seem to be either USA or Saudi Arabia.
Modric has already been linked with the MLS side Inter Miami in the past, while other reports have indicated interest from the Middle East in the Croat. For now, there are still some months left on his Real Madrid contract, and the club’s fans should enjoy him gracing the pitch as much as possible as this luxury is not going to last long.
