Eder Militão has put pen to paper by signing a new deal with Real Madrid until 2028. Although injured this season, the center-back has been a pivotal part of the squad since the past couple of seasons.
Militão suffered a ligament tear – ACL – against Atheltic Bilbao on matchday 1 and since then has been recovering. According to MARCA, Militão is expected to return to training with the first team by the end of February or early March.
The 26-year-old Real Madrid center-back had proven to be one of the top defenders in Europe before the ACL tear, hence the Merengues will not take any risks and will only play him once he’s 100% fit.
Although there is not a fixed date but it is expected that he would return to first-team action after the international break, that is, 1st April – the league game against Athletic Bilbao or the Champions League quarter-finals.
Currently, the European giants are thin on centre-back options with only Rüdiger along with Nacho being available. Carlo Ancelotti has also used Tchouaméni in that position.
Nacho has been sloppy at times hence, once Militão returns, he would slot right into the lineup and partner with Rüdiger who has been solid this season.
