Real Madrid did not have the greatest of matches as they could only come up with a draw against Sevilla. Sevilla were the first to draw blood as David Alaba scored an own goal in the second half. However, Los Blancos were quick to react and squared the scores soon after.
While Real Madrid have retained the top position on the league table for now, other clubs like Girona, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid now have a smaller gap to fill to come up to or even overtake the Merengues. Thus, it is imperative for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to come up as the winner in the upcoming El Clasico.
The Real Madrid squad gave a mixed performance, and this can be understandable as a number of first-team players were coming back from international duties. The ratings for Real Madrid players from the Sevilla match are given below:
Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6.5
Unable to keep a clean sheet as the ball went into the net after an accidental touch from David Alaba. Cannot really be blamed for the goal, but he could have saved that on another night with quicker reflexes. Came up with a big save to keep Ramos from scoring late in the second half.
Dani Carvajal: 7.5
Carvajal’s goal in the second half, which resulted from a free kick that he himself had won, drew the scores for Madrid. The fullback made some mistakes as he gave the ball away in dangerous positions, and gave away too much space to Acuna which resulted in the Sevilla goal. Still, a highly encouraging performance from the captain on the night.
Toni Rudiger: 8.0
Put in a fighting shift, and did not back down even against one of the most beloved players at Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos. Always helped the defense when they were pressed by the likes of Ocampos and El Nesyri, and also gave a top-notch pass to Vinicius which could easily have resulted in a goal on another night.
David Alaba: 5.5
A night to forget for Alaba, who struggled with defending crosses and aerial balls once again. To make matters worse, he also scored the own goal, which put Sevilla ahead temporarily.
Ferland Mendy: 6.0
Solid defensively as he kept Lukabakio and Jesus Navas at bay, but did not contribute anything of significance to the attack.
Aurelien Tchouameni: 5.5
A bad night for the midfielder who has been having a very good season otherwise. He failed to properly track Djibril Sow, which could have resulted in a goal for Sevilla, and struggled with taking control of the midfield in this match.
Fede Valverde: 6.0
Could have been on the score sheet as he sent the ball into the net in the opening seven minutes, but the goal was ruled out because Bellingham was in an offside position. Put in a tireless shift, despite returning from South America only a couple of days ago.
Toni Kross: 7.0
Took the free-kick which perfectly found Dani Carvajal and resulted in the equalizing goal for Real Madrid. His passing was not perfect, but Sevilla struggled with his cross-field passes early in the game.
Jude Bellingham: 6.5
Bellingham also scored a goal, which was once again ruled out for a foul in the build-up. Talking about fouls, the recently signed Englishman himself was the most fouled player last night, receiving seven fouls and had a number of other hits that were not called by the referee. The constant fouling kept him from getting into his full stride.
Vinicius Junior: 5.5
Had chances to score a goal but saw two of his shots blocked. Had a competition with the veteran Jesus Navas throughout the night, and got the better of him on some occasions. The referee was rather unjust with him, ignoring several fouls on the Brazilian, including one which could have resulted in a penalty. Also suffered racist insults once again, this time by Sevilla fans.
Rodrygo Goes: 5.0
Rodrygo’s goal drought continues but was quite near to ending when he brought down a Valverde cross and took a good shot at goal. However, seems to be frustrated by the lack of goals.
