Vinicius 8.5, Modric 9.0 | Real Madrid 4-0 Celta Vigo: Player ratings

Date:

A comfortable 4-0 victory against Celta Vigo extended the lead of Real Madrid atop the La Liga table. After a rather disappointing performance against RB Leipzig, the Merengues put on a great display in front of the Bernabeu faithful.

In the absence of Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior stepped up to take the offensive mantle. Arda Güler also contributed by scoring his first goal for the club. Moreover, Luka Modrić and Lucas Vazquez put on one of their best performances this season in a Real Madrid shirt.

Here is how the Real Madrid players fared in the 4-0 win.

Player ratings:

Andriy Lunin: 6.5

The Ukrainian did not have much to do as Celta Vigo were not able to make many attacks. He made one save and kept yet another cleansheet.

Lucas Vázquez: 8.0

Perhaps the Spaniard’s best performance in the white shirt this season. Won 8 out of 9 ground duels and made 5 tackles in the game.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7.5

The German center-back was involved in the first two goals as he headed the ball first which fell for Vinícius to put into the back of the net, meanwhile, the second goal ended up as an own goal following a bullet header from him. Defensively, yet another solid performance.

Nacho: 6.5

The captain put in a decent shift as a center-back. Made a few interceptions and did not have to battle with any danger whatsoever.

Ferland Mendy: 7.0

A typical Ferland Mendy performance as he did not let the player he was marking get through easily. Defensively, solid.

Federico Valverde: 8.0

Running out of words as to how important he is to the side. Had around 80 touches in the midfield and was a machine – like always. Played in a more advanced role in this match.

Luka Modrić: 9.0

The Croatian reminded everyone of his prime with this performance. Delivered dangerous corners which resulted in two goals. 95% passing completion and 120 touches show that he barely put a foot wrong. Orchestrated the midfield – like a magician.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.0

After a poor performance against Leipzig, the Frenchman redeemed himself in style and showed what he is capable of. He took his fellow compatriot – Tchouaméni’s – position and did not disappoint.

Brahim Díaz: 7.0

Showed his class in tight spaces and got close to scoring on one occasion, which ultimately led to the 2nd goal of the night. Could have had a better performance.

Rodrygo: 6.5

No goals or assists to show but a decent display yet again. Missed out on a few chances.

Vinícius Júnior: 8.5

Continued his impressive form, increased his goal tally, and was involved in two goals out of the 4. His cross ended up accounting for the third goal of the night after he himself had scored the first. Another night to remember for the Brazilian.

Substitutes:

Joselu: 6.0

Not the best night for the veteran striker. Missed a couple of chances but gladly, the game was already done and dusted.

Aurelien Tchouaméni: 6.0

Did not have to battle with any danger whatsoever. Satisfactory display for 12 minutes.

Toni Kroos: 6.5

12-minute cameo but it was visible that he needed the rest.

Arda Güler: 7.0

Scored his long-awaited first goal for the club in front of the Bernabeu faithful. A moment to cherish for the youngster.

Dani Ceballos: N/A

Just played for a minute and assisted Güler’s goal. Not enough time to warrant a rating.
