Real Madrid eased past CA Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu courtesy of a hattrick by Vinicius Junior and a goal from Jude Bellingham.
To sum it up, it was an all-round performance and the fans got something to cheer about before the international break began and how disappointing the past few weeks had been.
Here is how the Real Madrid lineup fared against CA Osasuna.
Player ratings:
Andriy Lunin: 7.5
An inch-perfect game for the Ukrainian as he kept his second clean sheet of the season and completed a rare feat as well – recorded an assist through a well-timed ball for Vinicius. Did not have to work as hard in goal and probably would be the easiest clean sheet of his career so far.
Lucas Vazquez: 6.0
Wasn’t as productive in his stint in the opening half and had to come off in the second half. Suffered a left adductor injury and is ruled out for three weeks.
Eder Militao: 6.0
Did not have as many defensive actions to do in his half an hour on the pitch. Gutted to see a player of his caliber suffer another ACL in two seasons. Hopefully, he makes a strong comeback next season.
Antonio Rüdiger: 7.0
All he had to do was make just two clearances in the match and just stick to the basics for the rest of the match. An easy evening at the office for the German.
Fran García: 7.0
A good outing for the Spaniard as he was preferred over Ferland Mendy this time around. Nice to see him make some overlapping runs and combine with Bellingham and Vinicius on the left.
Fede Valverde: 7.0
Finally a good game for the Uruguayan after the last two matches. Played in two different positions and held his ground well especially as a right-back – a position where he may feature more frequently in Vazquez’s absence.
Eduardo Camavinga: 8.0
A classy display from the Frenchman as the lone pivot in Aurelien Tchouaméni’s position. Won 7 duels, made a couple of interceptions, blocks and tackles as well. Delightful to watch.
Jude Bellingham: 9.0
An outstanding display from the Englishman. Played the entire game in his preferred position and was immense. Recorded an assist and also netted his long awaited first goal of the season. Played long balls, won his duels and was solid at tackling too. Always a sight to behold seeing him at his best.
Rodrygo: 6.5
Looked the best player on the attacking front in the 20 minutes he was on the pitch. Hard to see him being taken off due to an injury, which will keep the Brazilian out for at least a month.
Kylian Mbappe: 6.5
In all the chaos, Mbappe had a quiet night. Looked a bit lost at times but still tried his best on the attacking front. Hopefully, the two-week break will help him mentally and he could return to being at his best.
Vinícius Júnior: 10
When he said he would do things 10x better after losing out on the Ballon d’Or – this is what he meant. Purely, a statement making performance. Second hattrick of the season and 4th goal since losing out on the prestigious trophy. Vini at full throttle is the most dangerous player in world football and Osasuna were his victim this time around.
Substitutes:
Brahim Díaz: 7.5
Glad to see the Moroccan finally find his feet. An able replacement for Rodrygo. Full of energy and his hard work paid off as he won the ball off Boyomo and provided an assist for Vinicius.
Raul Ascensio: 7.5
It’s rare to see new academy youngsters getting an opportunity for Real Madrid but Raul grabbed it and made the most of it. Solid at the back and looked comfortable on the ball – seemed like one experienced centre-back. Eager to see how he performs as the season goes on, since he seems to have cemented his place already alongside Rudiger.
Luka Modric: 6.5
A decent display from the Real Madrid veteran in the second half. As always, was calm and composed on the ball and combined well with Camavinga and Jude.
Arda Güler: 6.0
Finally a cameo for the Turk albeit just a 15-minute one. Had some great first touches, won a few duels and tackles as well. Would love to see him feature more frequently.
Endrick: N/A
Came on alongside Güler but had just made just 5 passes in the match which is not adequate to warrant a rating.
