For the last few years, Real Madrid have been rather reluctant to make any changes to their squad in the winter transfer window. The Merengues have not brought in a new player in January for several years now.

However, things are looking quite drastic for Los Blancos after the serious injury suffered by Dani Carvajal, and there is a possibility that Real Madrid might at last get a new player to replace him in January. As already reported, the two defeats to Barcelona and AC Milan have caused the club to work urgently on potential winter operations.

Still, Diario AS reports that the club is still not too keen to make any move in the upcoming winter market, and they will make a final decision in this regard only after the UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool.

Despite the recent setbacks, the Merengue hierarchy has enough confidence in Ancelotti and the team to turn things around in the coming weeks, without bringing any more reinforcements to the squad.

For now, the club’s plan to mitigate the situation at the right-back position is to promote Jesus Fortea, who has already been registered for the UCL in the spot freed up by Dani Carvajal.

Furthermore, the Real Madrid decision-makers believe two youngsters, Eduardo Camavinga and Arda Guler, can also help the team in this situation. Aurelien Tchouameni’s injury, which is expected to keep him out for a month, will provide these two midfielders with more opportunities to play.

Similarly, Thibaut Courtois’ return after the international break will also provide the team with more security in the goal, especially after some shaky performances from Andriy Lunin.

Another factor that Real Madrid is counting upon to help the team get over this hard phase is the upcoming November international break. This break will allow the Merengues players to get a change of scenery by joining their national sides. Following this break, Real Madrid will travel to Anfield and the team’s performance in this game will determine whether the club goes to the winter market.
