Real Madrid were set to return to La Liga action after their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the last El Clasico this weekend, but with parts of Spain facing a natural calamity in the form of the floods caused by DANA, there is a very high chance that their upcoming clash with Valencia will be postponed.
However, the Merengues continue to prepare for this match, as Carlo Ancelotti held a routine training session at the club’s facilities. This was the third training session held this week, as the players had been given two days off after the El Clasico drubbing.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, four important players remained absent from this session because of their physical problems, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo Goes, and Thibaut Courtois.
There is still no deadline in sight for the return of the former two players, but this break can help Rodrygo Goes, who is reportedly working to return in time for the match against AC Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. However, the Real Madrid starting goalkeeper is unlikely to recover in time for the UCL game as well as he has not yet returned to train on the pitch.
Furthermore, two other players were absent from this session, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. Both of them worked indoors to relieve the excessive workload they have faced this season. Their availability for the upcoming match against Valencia or AC Milan is not in doubt.
The German defender Antonio Rudiger had already rejoined training one day ago after doubts emerged about his physical condition following the match against Barcelona.
This latest training session began with a routine warm-up, and Ancelotti then undertook work on possession, control, and pressing. Some tactical work was also done, and the session concluded after several small-sided matches and finishing exercises.
