The Real Madrid squad touched down in New Jersey some hours ago to take on arch-rivals FC Barcelona at the MetLife stadium. This will be their second game in the preseason tour of the USA.

Just a few days ago, the Merengues succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of AC Milan in their first match of the tour.

Despite the loss, there were some positives to take home for Carlo Ancelotti, including the performance by 16-year old centre-back Joan Martinez. The youngster was solid in the 2nd half and impressed the fans with his performance.

Brahim Díaz, Arda Güler and Dani Ceballos were amongst the other positives as they formed the attacking trio and had an impressive outing.

The Turkish youngster is expected to get another start, but this time as a midfielder – on the right side – and may at times shift as a number 10 during the game.

Vinícius Júnior, who joined the squad along with Militao and Rodrygo only yesterday, is set to appear in the 2nd half as well.

Eder Militao may start alongside Antonio Rüdiger in defence since Jesus Vallejo is not at 100% fitness and Carlo Ancelotti would not want to aggravate the injury since Real Madrid are thin on centre-backs in the squad after Nacho’s departure.

Endrick did not put in his best performance and looked lost at times in the match against AC Milan. This time, he will be doubly motivated to put in a display for the fans, especially as the upcoming match is against the Merengues’ archrivals Barcelona.

Speaking of arch-rivals, FC Barcelona won their first match in the USA on penalties against Manchester City, following an impressive 2-2 draw. Pau Victor and Pablo Torre were the goal scorers in a lineup which was fairly young.

It will be interesting to see the way Hansi Flick approaches this game as it is his first El Clasico – albeit an unofficial one.

The MetLife stadium will be packed for this game between two of the biggest teams in world football. Although just a pre-season game, players will fight for every ball, every tackle and give their 100%.
