Real Madrid superstar avoids serious injury but unavailable for match against Napoli

Date:

Real Madrid got a good victory against Cadiz in their last La Liga match. The Merengues came out as the winners, with a brace from Rodrygo Goes and another goal from Jude Bellingham.

It was almost a perfect night for Real Madrid, as the team kept a clean sheet, and scored three goals despite the absence of some key midfielders and attackers, and the victory also took them to the first position in the La Liga table, as Girona drew their match with Athletic Club.

However, Real Madrid had to pay for this victory, as the Merengues saw Luka Modric hobbling as he was subbed out in the second half. With Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga already out, an injury to Modric can spread Real Madrid’s midfield very thin in the coming weeks.

Luckily, the injury suffered by the Croat is not too serious, as reported by the journalist Mario Cortegana. The midfielder is out for the Champions League game against Napoli on Wednesday but will be ready to return for the La Liga clash against Granada on Saturday.

For the match against Napoli, Carlo Ancelotti will only have Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde, and Jude Bellingham as his first-team midfielders. Thus, Modric avoiding a serious injury would definitely be a piece of good news for Ancelotti and Real Madrid fans.

Once he returns to action, Modric will be expected to trot straight back into the starting lineup, with Dani Ceballos making way for him.

While players like Vinicius, Camavinga, and Tchouameni, will definitely be missed, Real Madrid are lucky in the aspect that their upcoming schedule is not too hard. They have already progressed to the knock-out rounds of the Champions League, and have some manageable games coming before the Christmas break.

Still, the matches against Real Betis and Villarreal can be tricky for Real Madrid without their key starters, but Modric’s presence in these matches will be a huge boost for Ancelotti’s side.
