Having arrived at Real Madrid only in the last summer transfer window, Jude Bellingham, the 20-year-old Englishman, has already proven himself to be one of the best signings made by the White club in the last few years.
Before he donned the white jersey this season, Borussia Dortmund secured his signature for a fee worth £25 million, making him the most expensive 17-year-old in history.
He proved to be a pivotal player for the men in yellow and enjoyed a great time at the club. However, the English starlet would certainly have bitter memories against one team in particular: Bayern Munich.
During his stint at Dortmund, Bellingham’s team was unable to secure a victory against the European giants, succumbing to as many as 7 defeats in 8 games including, 2 German Super Cup losses.
Inarguably, the most bitter memory he would carry with him from this time will be that of Dortmund being on the verge of securing the Bundesliga title last season, for the first time since 2011/12.
Drama ensued in the last game of the campaign, as Dortmund drew at home against Mainz, with Jude not any taking part in the game due to an injury. Ultimately, Bayern’s victory on the same matchday crowned them the league winners, winning the title on goal difference as both clubs had finished on 71 points.
The Englishman crosses paths against Bayern Munich in the much-awaited Champions League semi-final 1st leg at the Allianz Arena. This game gives him a chance to secure – most importantly – the victory and a chance to get ‘revenge’ over the European giants, as noted by MARCA.
He has already settled the score against Manchester City, who knocked Dortmund out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals in 2021, and would look to continue his quest of completing yet another revenge.
Tomorrow, Jude sets foot at the Allianz Arena yet again. Hopefully, he will be able to finally prevail against his former side’s bitter rivals on the grandest stages of them all and have the last laugh with his new club, Real Madrid.
