Although the team has been able to navigate the season without many problems, Real Madrid have faced a lot of issues with regard to their defense.

Key players like Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao suffered long-term injuries even before the season had formally started, and David Alaba also joined them on the sidelines a few months later.

With his defensive line thinned to such an extent, Carlo Ancelotti had to rely on using players like Aurelien Tchouameni, and even Dani Carvajal, in the center of their defense.

Thus, it is natural that the decision-makers at Real Madrid will be looking to reinforce this key area of the team, especially with the uncertainty revolving around how the injuries will impact Militao and Alaba.

For this purpose, one of the players that Real Madrid have in their sights is the French defender, Lenny Yoro. According to a report from MARCA, the Merengues are committed to ensuring that they sign the defender despite the competition they are facing from PSG.

However, this competition from the Parisians is not the main barrier that Real Madrid are facing in their pursuit of the highly-rated defender. Lille, who currently own the player, are clear that they will not sell him to the Qatar-owned entity, but have also refused to lower their demands for the player from €100 million, even though his contract is ending in 16 months.

Real Madrid are prepared to engage in a game of patience for the defender. They will purchase him if Lille comes up with a reasonable price for a player of his age, experience, and contract, i.e., lower than €30 million. If this does not happen, Real Madrid will sign him when his contract ends, as the player himself is keen to don the White jersey.

Another aspect that makes this option attractive for Real Madrid is the fact that Yoro can also play on the right flank. But the Merengues will have to undertake a lot of planning for their defense for the coming years, as Rafa Marin will also return from his loan, and it is not clear whether Nacho will extend his contract going forward.
