The current season has not been kind for Real Madrid in terms of injuries and physical problems to its players. Key players like Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois suffered injuries in the very early days of the season which will keep them out of action for the entire season.
Other players like Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, and, the new signing, Arda Guler, have also struggled with retaining their fitness levels.
Still, the team had been grinding out results despite the absence of these players, which is a testament to the quality of the players on the bench, as well as the experience of Carlo Ancelotti who has used his squad well to ensure Madrid do not suffer too much without these key players.
However, even more suffering is set in store for the Merengues. The club today officially confirmed that the midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has suffered a stress fracture in his left foot. The statement published by the club goes as:
“After the tests carried out on Aurélien Tchouameni by Real Madrid Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with an incomplete stress fracture in the second metatarsal of the left foot. His progress is to be monitored.”
While the club has not mentioned it, Tchouameni is expected to remain for two months on the sidelines.
This is very sad news for the team as well as the player himself. The Frenchman had been performing at a very high level since the start of the season and had established himself as a starter after a difficult first season at Real Madrid.
Ancelotti has relied on his defensive capabilities to a high extent this season, especially with Jude Bellingham taking up only minimal defensive duties in a diamond formation.
Now, only Camavinga will be available for Ancelotti to play as a defensive midfielder, unless Ancelotti again decides to play Kroos in this position.
