Real Madrid secured the all-important three points in a night of heavy suffering against Celta Vigo. Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius, Courtois along with a good performance from the midfield perfectly crafted a victory for Los Blancos.

The following ratings reflect how the Real Madrid players fared in this game.

Player ratings:

Thibaut Courtois: 7.5

The Belgian was forced into action early into the match and he truly stepped up. Made some crucial saves – including one in injury time. Could not have done much to prevent the equaliser.

Lucas Vazquez: 6.0

He needs to really buck up as he looked defensively vulnerable and lost the battle against Williot Swedberg. Perhaps Ancelotti may look to make a change for the El Clasico.

Antonio Rüdiger: 6.5

Arguably, not the German’s best game so far. He was caught out of position a few times and if not for Courtois saves or Celta’s poor finishing, it could have been a lot worse for him. Still, made some clearances and tackles.

Eder Militao: 7.5

The Brazilian continues to grow in confidence with another solid performance. Despite giving up many chances, he also made a crucial interception inside the final third to deny a goal. Hopefully extends this purple patch into the next few games.

Fran García: 6.0

Brave decision from Ancelotti to start him but the Spaniard was not able to make much of it. Made good attacking runs and put in a good cross as well. But he was caught out of position, which led to the entire defensive line getting messed up and ultimately led to Celta’s equaliser.

Aurelien Tchouaméni: 7.0

Played as third centre-back for most part of the game. It was a new position for him and he put in a decent performance. Made clearances, tackles, interceptions – overall, did what was asked of him.

Eduardo Camavinga: 7.0

It was his interception and assist which led to Kylian Mbappe opening the scoring for Los Blancos. An impressive 60-minute game for the Frenchman as he continues to prove why he deserves to start the next few games.

Fede Valverde: 7.0

A rather quiet performance from the Uruguayan but he cannot be blamed since he was involved in some high intensity matches over the international break. Despite that, took a shot at goal and did what was asked of him before being subbed off.

Jude Bellingham: 7.5

Played in a completely new position and looked comfortable in it. His frustration was understandable with Mbappe and Vinicius for not making a pass in the final third. Ran throughout the night and was on the verge of scoring in initial minutes of the second half.

Vinicius Junior: 7.5

The Brazilian had a quiet start but ultimately grew into the match. Combined well with Mbappe up front and could have scored through that combination. Modric ultimately spotted him making a good run and Vinicius made a composed finish.

Kylian Mbappe: 8.0

Looked at his best in the opening half, making some quick runs but was unable to do something productive. Soon, scored a stunning goal to give Madrid the lead. Rightfully named the man of the match. Plus, it was nice to see him score before the all-important Clasico next week.

Substitutes:

Luka Modric: 8.5

Oldest player to ever step on the pitch for Real Madrid, but played like a talented youngster hoping to prove something. Orchestrated the midfield in his 27-minute cameo. Made runs, kept possession and set up Vinicius for the second goal. An absolute master of his art.

Rodrygo: 6.0

The right wing looked lively when he came on but was unable to create a significant impact on the match.

Ferland Mendy: 6.0

Came on for Fran, with the job of preventing any further mistakes and see out the game. Did what was asked of him and made no mistakes.

Dani Ceballos: 6.5

Just played 7 minutes but they were crucial as him and Modric made sure to kill the game and not give the ball away too easily.
