Mendy, Brahim to start: Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Las Palmas

Date:

Following their first win of the season against Real Valladolid, Real Madrid now travel to Gran Canaria to overcome the Las Palmas challenge.

Ferland Mendy will directly slot into the side, following his red card and consequent suspension for the last match.

Brahim Díaz may also receive a surprise start following some brilliant performances since the beginning of the season.

Here is Real Madrid’s predicted lineup against Las Palmas.

GK: Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian secured his second cleansheet in four games and first in the league against Real Valladolid. He showed his class as well with some close ranged saves and proved why he is still one of the best.

RB: Lucas Vazquez

The Spaniard has proven to be an able backup since the past few seasons, at times putting in some crucial performances. He would be eager to put in a solid display in Dani Carvajal’s absence.

CB: Éder Militão

The last match showed that Militao is gradually returning to his best form, recording an assist and being rock-solid overall. The Brazilian will look to build on that performance and form a formidable backline for Los Blancos.

CB: Antonio Rüdiger

He was sloppy at times in the previous game but that did not stop him from keeping a cleansheet and keeping his marker on bay. The German and Militao are slowly beginning to form a formidable backline and would hope to keep up their performances.

LB: Ferland Mendy

Following a red card against Mallorca, the Frenchman returns to the lineup and will automatically replace Fran García who was not able to make most of his given opportunity. Mendy is one of the best defensive left-backs in the world and this game gives him another chance to show why.

CDM: Aurelien Tchouaméni

The last time this two sides met in January, Tchouameni ended up scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid in the 84th minute. The Frenchman has already cemented his place in the lineup as a solid defensive midfielder.

CDM: Fede Valverde

It is expected to be a 4-2-3-1 but Fede will definitely be playing higher up than a usual defensive midfielder does. Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that he wants Fede Valverde to shoot more and the Uruguayan can turn out to be a goalscoring threat as well other than providing immense workrate.

RW: Arda Güler

The Turk will continue to keep his place in the lineup, following a pleasing display against Valladolid. He has also emerged as a set piece taker and his role at Real Madrid is now a bigger one as compared to last season.

CAM: Brahim Díaz

His 27-minute cameo in the previous match can earn him a place in the lineup in place of Rodrygo. The Moroccan scored and assisted late in the game and if he continues with such displays, it will be hard for Ancelotti to keep him out of the lineup.

LW: Vinícius Júnior

New hairstyle, same old Vini Jr. as he made a mockery of defenders against Valladolid but would have liked to turn his chances into a goal. It seems like it is just a matter of time before he puts on his scoring boots.

ST: Kylian Mbappe

The Frenchman will make his third consecutive start in La Liga. The only thing missing on his resume is his first league goal because the former PSG man has done everything right – except the finishing. Those cheeky passes, pacy runs up the field, and intelligent positioning inside the box have been visible and it seems like a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.
