In the last summer transfer window, Real Madrid finally managed to land one of their most desired targets of the last few years: the French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.
Being one of the best forwards in the world of football, expectations were quite high among the Madridistas that he would significantly improve the team’s attack. These expectations received a fillip as he scored in his first official game with Real Madrid, against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.
However, the Frenchman needed some time before opening his goal-scoring account in La Liga, as he only scored his first goal in his fourth match against Real Betis, in which he scored a brace.
Then, Mbappe scored again in the match against Real Sociedad. He made his UCL debut with Real Madrid last night and was once again on the scoresheet as he opened the scores for the Merengues.
With these goals, the Frenchman has put to bed any lingering doubts about his goalscoring ability among his fans and critics. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, he has already become the top-scorer for Real Madrid, as he has scored five goals in seven official matches.
Furthermore, Mbappe has scored in all the competitions he has played in with Real Madrid. Three of these goals have come in La Liga, and one apiece in the UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League. Two of his La Liga goals have been scored from the penalty spot.
Following him in the Real Madrid scoring chart are Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde, who both have two goals to their names. Overall, the Merengues have scored 14 goals in their seven official matches this season, while conceding only three.
Thus, Mbappe seems to adapting quickly to his new side, and is already showing his quality with his goals. Hopefully, he will be able to build on this momentum as the more difficult matches come up for Los Blancos.
