Lunin 7.0, Modric 8.5 | Real Madrid 1:0 Sevilla: Player ratings

Date:

The game between Real Madrid and Sevilla looked to be heading to a stalemate until a long-range shot by Luka Modrić ended up in the back of the net.

Both goalkeepers were made to work hard during the game with Lunin being on the lucky side of ending up with yet another cleansheet – extending his impressive form.

Vinícius, although did not end up scoring, proved to be a threat on the left flank but was denied by Orjan Nyland.

Moreover, this game was also homecoming for Madrid’s legend Sergio Ramos who almost ended up helping Sevilla secure a draw against his former team.

Here is how the Real Madrid players performed in the 1-0 win against Sevilla:

Player ratings:

Andriy Lunin: 7.0

The Ukrainian was often exposed on the counter-attacks but made impressive saves to deny Sevilla from scoring and ending up getting his 9th clean sheet of the season. Not many sloppy passes this time around and was tidy on the ball.

Lucas Vázquez: 6.0

His opening goal was ruled out due to an intervention from VAR. However, the Spaniard was not that impressive in defense and the difference between when he starts and when Dani Carvajal starts, was visible.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7.0

Returned to the side after 3 weeks and did not require any fighters. The German was solid in defense and won a few headers as well.

Nacho: 6.0

The Spaniard was the reason why Vázquez’s goal was ruled out after he had committed a reckless foul. Decent at the back, but did struggle sometimes.

Ferland Mendy: 7.0

Solid as a left-back and showed why Ancelotti prefers him over Fran García on the left side. Shut down Sevilla’s attack at times during the night.

Aurelien Tchouaméni: 6.5

Started in the midfield after being a center-back in the previous few games. Fairly solid in the 1st half, but almost cost his team in the 2nd half.

Toni Kroos: 8.0

The German surely is not calling time on his career anytime soon with such performances.
Made his frustration visible in the 1st half and almost got close to getting a red. Other than that, excelled once again with the ball as he recorded a 94% passing accuracy in the game.

Fede Valverde: 7.5

The Uruguayan just continues to show why he is an important pillar of this side. Had a few shots at goal, with one of them hitting the post. Started the game deep but had a more advanced role towards the end.

Brahim Díaz: 6.5

He had some impressive bursts in the game and made some great runs as well but the Spaniard did slow down the attack sometimes.

Rodrygo: 6.5

Made some chances but was unable to find the back of the net. Kind of predictable but made some skillful runs while on the ball.

Vinícius Júnior: 7.5

The Brazilian was a constant threat to Orjan Nyland’s goal and made the goalkeeper work throughout the game. Madrid would want him to continue this form throughout the season, albeit with some goals to show too.

Substitutes:

Luka Modric: 8.5

The Croatian came on in the 75th minute and showed why Real Madrid still kept him this season. Scored a stunner to secure a victory for the side and also made an important tackle late in the match. Was the MVP for this match.

Alvaro Rodriguez: N/A

Not enough time to make an impact and warrant a rating.

Dani Ceballos: N/A

Not enough time to make an impact and warrant a rating.
