Real Madrid are not having the best of luck in regard to injuries, and have several important players unavailable because of physical issues. The midfield is one area where this problem has most affected the Merengues, as they have up to four midfielders out, including Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos, and Jude Bellingham.
However, it is not only Los Blancos who are facing problems in their midfield in this starting phase of the 2024-25 season, as Real Betis are also facing a grim few months because of injury-related absences in the midfield.
The Verdiblancos have lost William Carvalho for a long period of time, while Isco is already out with an injury that will keep him on the sidelines till next year. As a result, Real Betis are already looking to bring in a midfield reinforcement in the next January transfer window.
According to Diario AS, Manuel Pellegrini’s side has a rather familiar player in their sights for this purpose, the Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
The Merengue midfielder was linked with Real Betis in the last summer transfer window as well and he was their top target to replace Nabil Fekir in the midfield. However, the financial positions of the two clubs were too far away for an agreement to be reached. Meanwhile, the Merengues were also not too willing to part ways with Ceballos because of their problems in the midfield.
However, things will have changed by the time the January transfer window opens. Both Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are expected to return to availability well before that time, and Ancelotti might not resist a sale of the Spanish midfielder too much.
The position that the player himself takes will also have to be taken into account. Ceballos was not too happy that Betis did not even come close to Real Madrid’s asking price for him, but has never stopped supporting his former club. He is expected to return to full fitness by the next transfer window, and might just make his return to the Benito Villamarin after seven and a half years.
