La Liga President hints at the length of Mbappe’s contract with Real Madrid

The president of the Spanish football league 'La Liga' Javier Tebas gestures as he gives a press conference in Madrid on May 25, 2023 amid an international outcry after racist abuse was hurled at Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior during a Spanish league match. The 22-year-old Brazilian forward drew international support after making a stand against the last racist abuse he received from Valencia supporters on May 21.

The current season is almost over for Real Madrid, as they have already wrapped up the La Liga title, and have only one match left to play in the UEFA Champions League, the final against Borussia Dortmund.

Thus, a lot of attention at the club is already being taken by the upcoming summer transfer window, which is expected to be a very busy one for the Merengues. Several players have been linked with the Madrid club for this window, with Kylian Mbappe being the most famous of these, and also the one whose chances of arriving at Real Madrid are growing every day.

Some of the most powerful people in European football seem to have already understood that Mbappe’s next club will be Real Madrid, although the player himself or the club have not yet made it public.

The latest individual whose comments have raised the ears of Los Blancos fans is the President of La Liga, Javier Tebas, who almost took Mbappe’s arrival to be granted, and also went on to hint at the number of years in the Frenchman’s contract with the Merengues.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the league President was talking to a newspaper in Buenos Aires when he claimed that Mbappe was going to be a Real Madrid player next season, while also mentioning some of the current stars:

“Well, man, he’s from Madrid next year, next season, yes, yes… He is one of the best players in the world. But well, there’s also Vinicius and Bellingham. Madrid is going to have a great squad. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee winning championships.”

His next comments were what really got most of the people’s attention, as he predicted the length of Mbappe’s new contract: “Man, if they’ve signed him for five seasons, he has five seasons of opportunities.”

Although Tebas is usually critical of Los Blancos, on this occasion he could not help but praise the club for its achievements:

“Epicness is something that you could say is within Real Madrid. Because it happens season after season. Sometimes they don’t achieve everything. But most of the time they win. This somewhat marks the validity of La Liga, doesn’t it?”

Lastly, the La Liga President was also rubbing his hands while thinking about the competition that can emerge between the two biggest teams in Spain, i.e., Real Madrid and Barcelona:

“Not only having great players makes a great competition, there are many more factors involved. And if you don’t address them, you never manage to have a great competition. We address many issues to have a great competition and we keep bringing in players.”

“And new players always emerge. In Barcelona, I already saw Yamal as a kid, or Pedri or Gavi. And in Madrid, Vinicius, Bellingham, and what’s to come, Mbappé.”

Being one of the most important people in Spanish football, one can expect Tebas to have knowledge of affairs that outsiders do not have. Thus, there is not much to doubt about the information he has let slip in this interview, and one can expect Mbappe to be at Real Madrid for the next five years.
