Eduardo Camavinga has been one of the players who has not been able to play a single minute with Real Madrid this season. The French midfielder suffered a left knee injury in one of the training sessions before the match against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup and thus was unable to start the season with Ancelotti’s team.
His absence has been quite a headache for Ancelotti, who has had several other midfielders unavailable during the course of this season, including Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Dani Ceballos.
The latest update on the Frenchman’s condition has been provided by MARCA, which claims that he has been training alone on the pitch for the last few days but could return to training with the group today on Thursday.
The midfielder has been training with increasing intensity for the last few days and is now feeling better about his affected knee. The coming few training sessions will further clear up his sensations about the affected area, and thus determine whether he will be available for the upcoming Madrid derby.
Injuries have significantly altered Ancelotti’s planning for this crucial game. Mbappe was recently ruled out for this game because of a muscle issue, and thus the Italian can go into this game with a 4-4-2 formation.
But opting for such a setup will require Eduardo Camavinga to return in full fitness and top form. If the Frenchman is able to return, he will slot into the midfield with Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham, while Vinicius and Rodrygo will make up the attacking duo.
On the other hand, if Camavinga is not available, Luka Modric will take his place in the starting eleven. Modric has been playing regularly for Real Madrid in the last few games, but there is no doubt that at his optimal level, Camavinga would be the better player to take this position in the middle of the pitch.
