It has only been a few weeks since the 2024-25 season started, but Real Madrid have already missed several important players due to injuries.

The latest addition to this list was also the saddest, as Dani Carvajal suffered a very serious injury in his right knee, which tore several ligaments and tendons in the very last minutes of the match between Real Madrid and Villarreal.

The Merengue captain himself confirmed his injury in a video that he shared on his social media before the club published their official statement on the matter. After the tests carried out on the player, it was clear that he would have to undergo surgery to recover from this issue.

According to MARCA, Real Madrid have confirmed that this surgery has taken place today, and the medical intervention was a successful one.

But this is only the first step for Carvajal in his long road towards recovery, which is expected to keep the fullback out of action for around one year. Fortunately, this first step has been completed successfully.

Now, the defender will rest and convalesce for some days before starting to work on his recovery process. Meanwhile, the Merengues have already announced a one-year extension to his contract, which was previously set to expire at the end of this season.

The Spaniard had one of his best seasons last year, as he won the Spanish Super Cup, La Liga, and the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid. Then he once again went on to become the champion of Europe with the Spanish national team, as he helped them win the UEFA EURO 2024 during the summer.

With this season already over for him, Carvajal will now have a different challenge, that of recovering and returning to his best form for Real Madrid next season.
