Over the years, several players and coaches have made their homes in the hearts of the Real Madrid faithful. One such coach who played a very important role at a pivotal point in the club’s history was Jose Mourinho, who left a quite mixed legacy despite his achievements with the Merengue team.
Still, owing to his achievements in top-level football, Mourinho remains one of the most respected and voices in the footballing world. Currently, he is working as the head coach of the Turkish team Fenerbahce.
As MARCA has reported, the Portuguese coach recently appeared in an interview with HT Spor. Real Madrid remained a frequently discussed topic in this interview.
Arda Guler was one of the Real Madrid players that Mourinho discussed in this interview, as he praised the Turkish youngster for his “huge personality” and “differential quality”:
“The players must be convinced that they are good enough to wear that jersey; they can’t afford to be scared… To play for Real Madrid, personality is crucial”.
Mourinho went on to highlight the role that Carlo Ancelotti can play in Guler’s development, as he claimed that with the Italian, Guler will not only grow technically but will also get a very fertile ground to incorporate the core values of Real Madrid.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United trainer also praised Real Madrid for its ability to assemble the best players or the best prodigies in the world:
“The biggest club in the world can only have the best players in the world, or the top ten with the most potential.”
Jose Mourinho has seen his coaching career go somewhat downhill in the last few years. However, he still remains one of the most authoritative voices in football, and getting this praise from the Portuguese will certainly be special for a player as young as Arda Guler.
