A battle of European giants awaits us at Anfield as Liverpool take on Real Madrid in match day 5 of the Champions League.
Real Madrid will be without the services of Vinicius for this fixture and Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Here is how Real Madrid can lineup against Liverpool.
GK: Thibaut Courtois
Did not have to do much against Leganes to keep a clean sheet but will have to work way harder to get the same result against this Liverpool side. Last time the Belgian played here, he had a horror start to the match but Madrid ended up winning the game 2-5.
RB: Fede Valverde
Hopefully, it is the Uruguayan who starts this match since Lucas Vazquez coming up against Luis Diaz does not sound like a good battle. Valverde is much more capable of keeping his fellow South American quiet and would be eager to do so tonight.
CB: Raul Asencio
Perhaps the biggest match of the youngster’s career so far. The Spaniard has looked superb on the ball and defensively as well in the last two appearances. A tough challenge awaits him against Liverpool.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger
The German has to be on top form for this match. No mistakes whatsoever. The front line of Liverpool is ruthless and in-form. Many madridistas would be expecting a solid display from him.
LB: Ferland Mendy
Has not been in the best form this season, but Carlo Ancelotti trusts him enough for a start and a challenge against Mo Salah. He would be eager to repay the trust Ancelotti put in him and keep Salah quiet.
CM: Eduardo Camavinga
The Frenchman has been running the midfield this season and will be expected to so in this match as well. His responsibility will double with Valverde playing in defence but will get another chance to show his class.
CM: Luka Modric
The veteran midfielder is in line to start as well. With him on the field, Madrid look a calm, composed side and also create more chances in his presence. At the ripe old age of 39, Modric would be eager to run things just like he did back in his prime.
LM: Jude Bellingham
The Englishman will play on the left side of midfield against a side he was rumored to join last season. But Jude made it clear that it was not even close speciallly since Real Madrid knocked on his door. Everyone at Anfield would hope that he is off-colour but Madridistas would hope that it’s the complete opposite.
RM: Arda Güler
He was truly a treat to watch against Leganes and after Vini’s injury, his chance to start this match increases even more. This will be the first big game he starts in, but the Turk has shown the world what he can do it on the big stage in the Euros and Anfield can see him pull off a masterclass.
ST: Brahim Díaz
Surprised to not see him start in the last game, considering the form he has been in. But the Moroccan will undoubtedly start this fixture. He might slide in the midfield as a number 10 from time to time but for most part, would be the striker.
ST: Kylian Mbappe
The Frenchman thoroughly enjoyed playing on the left and Ancelotti is expected to do so yet again. Although he will not purely play as a winger, Mbappe would be doing most of his trickery on the left. In Vinicius’ absence, this is the best chance for him to showcase his class.
