Ancelotti left with only five Real Madrid players for the coming few days

Date:

Real Madrid have not had a very good start to the 2024-25 season. One can argue that the Merengues have kept up their unbeaten streak of 31 games in La Liga, but they have drawn two matches against Mallorca and Las Palmas, allowing Barcelona to generate a 4-point lead over them at the top of the league table.

However, the Merengues have still gone into the September international break at a good moment, as their star signing of the last summer transfer window, Kylian Mbappe, finally opened his scoring account in La Liga with a brace against Real Betis.

But currently, with all the injuries and national team duties, Carlo Ancelotti is left with a very depleted squad to train. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Italian tactician is left with only five players, Thibaut Courtois, Lucas Vazquez, Jesus Vallejo, Antonio Rudiger, and Fran Garcia for the next few days.

There are six players currently recovering from injuries, including David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Dani Ceballos, Aurelien Tchuameni, and Ferland Mendy. The last three of these players suffered injuries only yesterday. Jesus Vallejo is also not training with the squad, although the club has not published any medical report for him.

The rest of the Real Madrid squad is with their national teams. Dani Carvajal is representing Spain and will play against Serbia and Switzerland in this international break, while Kylian Mbappe is called up by France, and will play against Italy and Belgium. Mendy and Tchouameni were also on the French national team list earlier, but have been dropped because of their injuries.

Luka Modric has also been called up by Croatia for their matches against its Nations League matches against Portugal and Poland. Lunin will represent Ukraine in the matches against Albania and Czech Republic in the Nations League, while Arda Guler will represent Turkey in the same competition and play against Wales and Iceland.

Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior, and Endrick are all in the Brazil squad, and will play against Ecuador and Paraguay for World Cup qualifiers. Federico Valverde will don the Uruguay jersey and play against Paraguay and Venezuela. Brahim will also play in World Cup qualifiers for Morocco against Gabon and Lesotho.
