Modric 8.0, Brahim 8.5 | Real Madrid 3-0 Cadiz: Player ratings

Date:

18th-placed Cádiz proved to be no competition for Real Madrid, who comfortably went past the away side with a 3-0 victory in their last La Liga match. This win also crowned Real Madrid as the champions of Spain for the 36th time, as later on FC Barcelona dropped points against Girona, leading the Merengues to winning the league title.

It was an all-round performance by the men in white as Courtois kept a cleansheet on his return, Dani Ceballos had a better game as compared to the last one and Joselu was amongst the goal scorers as well.

Jude Bellingham came on in the 2nd half to score his 18th league goal after Brahim Díaz had opened the scoring earlier for Los Blancos.

Here is how the Real Madrid players fared in the 3-0 victory against Cádiz.

Player ratings:

Thibaut Courtois: 7.0

It was a good day at the office for the Belgian. Was relatively untroubled by the Cádiz attack but still made some important saves and clearances when needed. He will be happy with his comeback.

Dani Carvajal: 7.5

The Spaniard continued his impressive form this season. Was solid in defence and made some good overlapping runs to the opposition box. However, would be disappointed that he did not score the team’s third goal.

Éder Militão: 7.0

The Brazilian defender held his ground nicely, and commanded the backline. Although, he did make a poor back pass which sent a Cadiz attacker clear on goal, but an advancing Courtois was able to make a save. Helped the team keep a cleansheet and it is nice to see him getting back to full fitness.

Nacho: 7.5

A solid performance from the captain. Was once again reliable, but his lack of pace was exploited by the Cádiz players. Ended the game by providing an assist for Joselu’s goal.

Fran García: 7.5

By far, it was his best performance of the season. Carlo Ancelotti would surely be impressed. Was good defensively as he kept the away side’s attackers at bay and did not let them breathe easily. Also made a couple of good overlapping runs. The youngster would be satisfied with his performance.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.0

The Frenchman was solid as the defensive midfielder as he intercepted some crucial Cádiz attacks and found Joselu at times inside the box. This was among the French midfielder’s best displays this season.

Luka Modrić: 8.0

It is hard to believe that the Croatian might be leaving the club at the end of the season, with retirement also not fully ruled out. Completed 97% of his passes, made a couple of tackles, and assisted Brahim Díaz for the opening goal to showcase his class even at 38 years of age.

Dani Ceballos: 6.5

Not the best of performers, but was still much improved from the Real Sociedad game. Made a few good touches and some eye-catching passes too. However, it seemed like he was trying too hard. It’s difficult to envision him staying at Real Madrid next season with the quality of midfielders already in the team.

Arda Güler: 7.0

An impressive first start from the Turk at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Cadiz defense was stubborn and hence he could not work his magic as effectively. Got on the verge of scoring though from a nicely struck free-kick.

Joselu: 7.0

Finally, the veteran striker got on the score sheet. However, he could have scored one more at least if it was not for his poor decision-making. Nonetheless, would be a sigh of relief for him to score.

Brahim Díaz: 8.5

A wonderful performance from the Moroccan national. Scored a wonder goal from Modric’s pass and then assisted Jude Bellingham in the 68th minute of the game. Was rightly awarded the man of the match.

Substitutes:

Jude Bellingham: 7.5

Came on for Güler and it took the Englishman just 2 minutes to score a goal and increase his tally to 18 in La Liga. Other than that, kept it pretty simple and did not overdo stuff.

Vinícius Júnior: 7.0

Another substitute that caused danger for Cádiz. Was on the verge of pulling off an outrageous rabona assist and was also involved in the last goal scored by Joselu.

Fede Valverde: N/A

Just had 15 touches in a 10-minute cameo and nothing much. Not enough time to warrant a rating.
