Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid: Match preview

Date:

Up next for Real Madrid is an exciting visit to the ever-colorful Allianz Arena in Germany. Waiting for Los Blancos there will be a hungry Bayern Munich side, eager for redemption in the Champions League. Given the history and prestige of both sides, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich never tend to disappoint.

After disposing of Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, Los Blancos and the giants of Bavaria will look to move past their victories over their English opponents. Now, instead, they look to lock horns in one of European football’s most classic encounters, given that both multi-time Champions League winners have battled out some glorious encounters in the past as well.

For the first leg of their semi-final tie, Real Madrid will travel to Munich, where the Allianz Arena will play host for the first outing between the two sides from Spain and Germany. A victory here for either team could be crucial, and Los Blancos will be hoping it is them.

In terms of form, Carlo Ancelotti’s side come into this game with three victories from their last five games across all competitions, with one being a draw and the other being a 1-1 stalemate that Real Madrid won on penalties against Manchester City at the Etihad. Almost looking invincible at times this season, Los Blancos will be feeling quite confident about their chances in this encounter.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich will have motivations of their own. Playing in front of their home supporters, the German side will want to get a positive result knowing that they will next face off against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, a venue that will greatly favor the whites from Madrid.

Moreover, having lost out on the Bundesliga to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, the Champions League remains the only saving grace for the Bavarian giants. With Thomas Tuchel set to leave the club at the end of the season as well, Bayern Munich will be especially determined to get a strong result here and potentially make it to the Champions League final.

Harry Kane, alongside many of Bayern’s most potent forwards, will look to make life difficult for Real Madrid. Ancelotti’s side, however, possesses players who are equally as good and have a better squad in terms of fitness and player availability than their opponents as well, with the German side having to wrestle with various injuries in this encounter.
