It was goals galore at the El Sadar as Real Madrid triumphed over CA Osasuna by a margin of 2-4.
Real Madrid began the game with a 4-3-3 formation and not a 4-3-1-2 shape like they usually have throughout the season. Eduardo Camavinga’s solid game against Celta Vigo earned him another start in this game.
It took Vinícius Júnior just 4 minutes to open the scoring when he robbed the ball off the Osasuna defender and easily slotted the ball inside the net.
But the lead did not last long as Osasuna’s danger man, Ante Budimir, equalized in the 7th minute, scoring his 15th goal of the season.
The Merengues found it easy to get past the home side’s defence and it took a Fede Valverde assist to find Dani Carvajal who scored his 4th goal in La Liga and gave Los Blancos the lead again.
A minute before the end of the 1st half, Vinícius received a yellow card which means he will be suspended for the game against Atheltic Bilbao. The next time Vinícius will be seen in a Real Madrid jersey, will be against Manchester City in the 1st leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Brahim Díaz took the field as Jude Bellingham’s replacement and showcased what he is capable of as he scored the third goal of the game, which also proved to be the killer blow. Vinícius – just 3 minutes later – found the back of the net from a tight angle to finally put the game to bed.
Fede Valverde had a game to remember, as the Uruguayan provided assists for all the goals except the first one. His stats now read as having 1 goal and 7 assists in the league so far.
Osasuna scored a consolation goal in stoppage time as Iker Munoz went past Lunin’s defenses, ending the game with a 2-4 scoreline.
But before the Iker Munoz goal, Arda Güler almost scored a wonder goal as he took a shot from the halfway line which ended up hitting the cross bar. At full-time, Carlo Ancelotti was seen appreciating the Turk for having a great cameo in the final few minutes.
Real Madrid now take a 10-point lead over 2nd-placed Girona, who lost their game against Getafe. The Merengues are getting closer and closer to sealing the league title.
The players will now disperse as they will be joining their national sides for the next two weeks. Real Madrid will be back in action on 31st March against Atheltic Bilbao – with Éder Militão also potentially returning to the action.
