The Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid soap opera is set to return in January after months of silence. Similar to 2022, the Frenchman will have less than six months left on his contract and will be free to negotiate with any club he wishes.
The saga did make a brief appearance in the summer of 2023, as rumors began to circulate about Mbappé joining the European giants. This was fuelled by the fact that Karim Benzema left and Real Madrid did not have a striker to lead the forward line.
However, Florentino Pérez quashed these rumors when he told a fan in an informal conversation that the club would not pursue the French striker in the summer.
Los Blancos did sign Joselu and although he’s nowhere near the level of Mbappe, he’s had a significant contribution to the attack led by Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius.
Arrive January 1st 2024, Real Madrid can approach Kylian Mbappé without the fear of any consequences or sanctions, as has been noted by Mundo Deportivo. The Merengues are expected to make a pre-contract offer to Kylian on the 1st, with a 15-day deadline to accept that offer.
So far there have not been any signs that Mbappé will sign a new deal with PSG, but like a soap opera, things may again take a turn like they did in the summer of 2022. If he chooses to stay at PSG, Madrid might never approach him again and shift their attention to Erling Haaland.
On the contrary, if he chooses to sign for Real Madrid, he will fulfill his lifelong dream to wear the prestigious white shirt and would have a chance to etch his name in Real Madrid’s history. With all things said, the saga is expected to come to an end in 2024 as the player’s decision now, will be final.
After knowing Kylian’s decision, Madrid will undertake its projects for next season – the arrival of Endrick the continuity of Carlo Ancelotti, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric, and boosting their defense.
